Email to Road Runner Records

During the photomontage we wanted to play a piece of music and we felt Photography by Nickleback had really good lyrics for what we were trying to capture. This is the email we sent to Nicklebacks' record comany - Road Runner Records.

2nd Draft of Storyboard

After going over our storyboard and getting feedback we changed it, this is our second and final draft. We will be using this storyboard to create an animation board.

Animation Board + Feedback

After we had completed the animated storyboard with the timing and edits we had decided on, we showed it to the rest if the group who were filling out a sheet on things we did well and the things we could improve on for the overall storyboard and the timings within it. We got a lot of similar results from everyone. The things we did well were mainly our use of transitions and edits so we knew to keep these in it for it to be successful. They all thought overall that our timing suited our indie genre well so we knew we could keep that pratically the same. On the other hand we had some areas for improvement. Everyone said that we needed faster pacing and more variety in our live performances. After sitting down and thinking about how to make these improvements we decided that it would be best to:

  • when filming use a variety of different shot lengths and angles so that the audience had something more interesting than just mid-shots, this would also give different perspectives of the performance and make them feel involved.
  • in order to make it more visually exciting we would add things such as high/low angled shots, panning to give different views and a range of zoomed in and out shots to give different effects.
  • for the pace we would add some short cuts and then some long so theres not just dragged out long shots which could be very boring for the audience.

Location + Promotional Photographs

Location Photographs:
The locations we chose were a field, a stage and a recording studio.
We chose the field so it could show the band as easy going and not worrying too much about where they are placed, also it shows they'd rather be outside doing stuff rather than being stuck indoor which shows how out going and down to earth they are.
The stage location was so they would be recognised as performers and noticed for their music rather than their image.
The recording studio shows the bands talents, and how interested in music they are which shows passion. It also shows their professional side in the business which tells us whilst being down to earth they are also serious about making good music and promoting themselves.

Promotional Band Photographs:
These photographs appeal to our target audience because indie/rock audiences are all about playing their own instruments and writing their own music, these photos show them playing on stage and in the recording studio where any band that produces their own music should be.
The images of them messing around shows the band to be normal people who like to have fun, our target audience will generally be interested in this because big-headed bands are usually a turn off or earn less respect from the audience.

CD/DVD DigiPak Cover Planning

Draft 1 front:
Title for drafts:

Draft 1 back cover:
Draft 2 front and back:

Draft 3 front and back:

After drawing up these Didgipak cover mock ups, we realised how we needed to focus on making it more of a DVD as well as a CD as we were lacking in the DVD section, so when we make the final piece we need to remember things such as reviews, intistution information and photographs etc.

The above two are bands which we have researched of mentioned that link to both our band and our genre. Paramore due to their mixed gender and use of female vocalist. Mcfly because of their age when they first found fame.
